Altaba to pursue open sales of Yahoo Japan, but likely will mull other optionsAs expected, Altaba (NASDAQ:AABA) is "moving to an active monetization mode" on its stake in Yahoo Japan (OTCPK:YAHOY), its CEO confirmed on a conference call.And that will come through open market sales in the April-June time frame: the "only option immediately available to us," Thomas McInerney said.He didn't rule out other possibilities, though: "But certainly I would personally be disappointed if we didn’t find a more efficient path.”The company's got options, says Morgan Stanley analyst Testuro Tsusaka, which could include selling to Yahoo Japan and SoftBank (OTCPK:SFTBY), and Altaba's likely to find the one that isn't disruptive to those two companies.SoftBank's likely to push for a Yahoo Japan repurchase, since it might be cautious with a major new shareholder that might be disruptive, Tsusaka says.In market moves today:AABA-2.5%;OTCPK:YAHOY-4.3%;OTCPK:SFTBY-2.2%.Source: BloombergSee all stocks on the
