Oil futures erase their year-to-date gains in electronic trading Prices for U.S. benchmark crude continued to decline Thursday in electronic trading , as traders dragged the market down along with the plunge in U.S. stocks. The Dow Jones Industrial Index DJIA, -4.15% tumbled by more than 1,000 points Thursday, marking its second-worst point decline in history. Concerns about record U.S. crude production had already sent oil prices to their lowest level in five weeks, but the latest move lower in electronic trading erased what had been a year-to-date gain for West Texas Intermediate crude. March WTI CLH8, -2.22% was at $60.41 a barrel, down from the $61.15 settlement on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Year to date, futures prices were roughly flat.
