Enbridge Energy Partners: Income Investor Delight, With CaveatsSummaryThe Enbridge complex is mired with an overly convoluted structure. I always would recommend owning simple over complicated.After being saved time and again by its general partner, there are no levers left to pull. High cost of capital continues to restrict any growth.The asset base is going to see stagnant results from Q3 2017; Enbridge Energy Partners will see no benefit from the Line 3 replacement after selling its interests.The current distribution will likely be maintained, but don't expect growth. I'd much rather own other MLPs with lower yields, a cleaner set of operations, and higher growth prospects.I give my opinion on the EEP/EEQ debate. For foreign investors and those that don't want K-1s, I agree on its appeal. For others, the potential of an i-unit/common stock not being 1:1 in liquidation is a worry.
