STAMFORD, Conn., Feb. 15, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Navigators Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:NAVG) reported Net Income of $26.9 million, or $0.89 per diluted share, for the three months ended December 31, 2017 compared to $21.6 million, or $0.71 per diluted share, for the same period in 2016. Net Operating Earnings1 were $24.5 million, or $0.81 per diluted share, for the three months ended December 31, 2017 compared to $17.7 million, or $0.58 per diluted share, for the same period in 2016. The fourth quarter of 2017 was impacted by the enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (the “Tax Act”). As a result of the Tax Act, The Navigators Group, Inc. (“Navigators” or the “Company”) recognized additional income tax expense of $19.7 million which reduced Net Income in the fourth quarter.
