American Airlines stock rallies after profit beat, upbeat outlook Shares of American Airlines Group Inc. AAL, +3.10% rallied 1.9% in premarket trade Thursday, after the air carrier beat third-quarter profit expectations and provided an upbeat outlook. Net income that fell to $624 million, or $1.28 a share, from $737 million, or $1.40 a share, in the same period a year ago. Excluding non-recurring items, adjusted earnings per share came to $1.42, above the FactSet consensus of $1.40. Revenue rose to $10.88 billion from $1.59 billion, just shy of the FactSet consensus of $10.90 billion. The air carrier said Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria led to more than 8,000 flight cancellations, and reduced pre-tax earnings by about $75 million. Load factor declined to 83.6% from 83.9%, while passenger revenue per available seat mile increased 1.5% to $11.81.
