Rovio brings 'Angry Birds' into mobile augmented reality in new 'Isle of Pigs' iOS game The "Angry Birds" franchise is heading into the real world, at least through your iPhone. As the popular mobile franchise is set to turn 10 later this year, owner Rovio is trying a new way to reinvent the game on mobile devices, embracing augmented reality for its latest variation, "Angry Birds AR: Isle of the Pigs." The new version, available for free later this spring on iOS, combines the classic game with the iPhone or iPad's camera to allow you to virtually project the game onto real-world surfaces like tables and floors. Using Apple's ARKit, players can even physically walk around the game with your phone or tablet to try and find the optimal area to launch your bird. Bringing the phone or tablet closer to the surface will similarly allow you to zoom in and out of the pigs' towers and forts.
