Applied Genetic Technologies: Biogen's Deal Termination Was PrematureSummaryApplied Genetic Technology announced that it had failed to succeed in a phase 1/2 study treating patients with X-linked retinoschisis ((XLRS)) using its AAV technology.Based on no activity on 6-month data from the phase 1/2 XLRS study, Biogen had chosen to terminate its partnership agreement with AGTC.AGTC has the potential to comeback, because the failed data from the phase 1/2 XLRS study used intravitreal injections for patients as opposed to subretinal injections.AGTC has the potential for a comeback on the basis that it has 3 trial readouts in 2019 from multiple indications.AGTC has $105.4 million in cash as of September 30, 2018 which should be enough to fund its operations for at least the next 2 years.
