This has been (a) a long slide, and (b) not all France's fault, even though fans want to pin a lot of the blame on him. France’s arrest Sunday on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance merely pushed NASCAR into damage-control mode for now. France only took an unlimited leave of absence from his position as CEO and chairman.
