Air Premia is changing Korean aviation. Its first office? A Seoul WeWork. For a population of 51 million, Korea has many international passenger airlines: eight. It is about to have three more after regulators issued hotly debated business licenses. One of those went to Air Premia, which wants to change not only the type of airlines Korea has, but also how airlines do business. To start, it set itself up in a WeWork in downtown Seoul, away from the offices smaller airlines have in former cargo warehouses around Seoul Gimpo airport. Air Premia has since moved, having out-grown WeWork, and will relocate again before receiving three 787-9s in mid-2020 for flights to Vietnam, Japan and Hong Kong. 2021 will see expansion to Los Angeles Funding has been similar to a tech start-up. Air Premia went to venture capitalists and financial institutions, with no shareholder so far having more than 20%, according to a spokesperson.
