AMD stock gains after FBN initiates at outperform with a $40 target Shares of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. AMD, +5.25% are up 1.6% in premarket trading Thursday after FBN Securities analyst Shebly Seyrafi initiated coverage of the stock with an outperform rating and $40 price target. He's upbeat about the ramps in Epyc server chips and Ryzen processors for PCs. The Epyc ramp "could help AMD penetrate the $16 billion server-chip total addressable market," he wrote, while Ryzen seems to be "allowing AMD to gain share or stop share loss in CPUs over Intel Corp. INTC, +1.43% Seyrafi also highlighted that AMD sells semi-custom chips to Microsoft Corp. MSFT, +1.44% and Sony Corp. SNE, +0.90% which are two of the top three game-hardware companies. "We believe that Microsoft and Sony are more likely to launch major new gaming consoles in F2020 than in F2019, so we model AMD's semi-custom segment to decline in F2019 before growing again in F2020," he wrote.
