Avon shares jump after report that activist investor will move for company sale Avon Products Inc. AVP, +3.40% shares jumped 7% in Monday premarket trading after a report from The Wall Street Journal that activist investors will push to seek out a buyer for the company. Three investors in the company, Shah Capital, Barington Capital Group LP and NuOrion Partners, have pushed for changes at the company, and together own about a 3.5% stake. Avon's Chief Executive Sheri McCoy is expected to step down from her post on March 31. Avon shares are down 56.5% for the past year whole the S&P 500 index SPX, +1.18% is up 25.2% for the period.
