Summary Investment Thesis Beginning with the 2015 rate hike talk in the United States, financial institutions rallied into prospects of higher income and revenues to show a nearly 100% gain, pushing markets up with them. European banks, as well, participated in the rally as global economic prospects continued to improve but nothing compared to large US banks like Bank of America ( BAC ) or Citigroup ( C ). BAC data by YCharts On the cusp of a recovery in the European Union with some signs of inflation and economic recovery emerging as issues with Greece and Brexit subside, both the United Kingdom and the European Union are beginning talk of normalization including easing monetary policy and asset purchases alongside raising interest rates out of negative territory. This comes in conjunction with continued signals from the United States Federal Reserve regarding higher overall interest rates as the economy continues its post global financial crisis recovery.
