Brown-Forman's net sales fall below expectations Brown-Forman Corp. BF.B, -4.78% reported a surprise decline in fiscal second-quarter revenue, citing the negative impact of tariff-related inventory reductions. The Jack Daniels parent said net income for the quarter to Oct. 31 rose to $249 million, or 52 cents a share, from $239 million, or 49 cents a share, in the same period a year ago. The FactSet consensus for earnings per share was 52 cents. Net sales fell 0.4% to $910 million from $914 million, missing the FactSet consensus of a 3.4% rise to $940.5 million. The company estimates the underlying sales growth was hurt by about 2 percentage points by the tariff-related inventory reductions. For the first half of the fiscal year, the company said reported net sales for the Jack Daniel's family of brands grew 2%, for super-premium American whiskey brands increased 12% and for Herradura and el Jimador brands rose 11%.
