Investors turn wary on Biogen/Eisai Alzheimer's drug results | Reuters 6 Min Read CHICAGO/TOKYO (Reuters) - Shares of Eisai Co Ltd plunged as much as 21 percent after the results of its experimental Alzheimer’s drug being developed with partner Biogen Inc failed to enthuse investors. In a highly anticipated mid-stage trial, patients in the early stages of the disease treated with the drug, BAN2401, experienced 30 percent less cognitive decline than those who got a placebo. The second-highest dose of the drug also showed some benefit, but did not meet statistical significance, according to data presented on Wednesday at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in Chicago. Investors, who had bid up Biogen and Eisai shares earlier this month after the companies said the drug was effective at the highest dose, sold off shares after the presentation of the details.
