(NYSE: CALX) today announced BrightRidge, a local not-for-profit public utility in northeastern Tennessee, has partnered with Calix to launch broadband service to transform its business and better serve its 78,000 subscribers. Deploying broadband service enables BrightRidge to better its communities by offering affordable, high-speed connectivity to the underserved, while making a strategic move to create new revenue streams for the local utility. BrightRidge began this massive project by bidding out different parts of the network and selected Calix as its partner from the datacenter edge all the way through to the subscriber premises.
