Oil ends modestly higher, posts a second straight weekly gain Oil prices settled with a modest gain Friday, shaking off earlier weakness sparked by a tweet from U.S. President Donald Trump, to finish higher for the week. Trump had taken to Twitter early Friday to blame the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries for “artificially high” prices. ‘”They are ‘artificially’ high. If they were not a quasi cartel, they would all be producing at capacity and prices would be lower,” said James Williams, energy economist at WTRG Economics. “However, it is unlikely that a tweet will change OPEC behavior.
