Oil higher, but on track for third weekly loss in a row Oil futures moved higher Friday, but remained on track for a third weekly loss in a row after data earlier this week marked a surprise jump in U.S. crude inventories and as a stronger dollar this week underlined concerns about demand growth. Crude found support Thursday and remained buoyant on Friday as the U.S. and China prepared to resume trade talks next week, though expectations for a breakthrough remained low. West Texas Intermediate crude for September delivery CLU8, +0.75% on the New York Mercantile Exchange was up 42 cents, or 0.6%, at $65.88 a barrel. The U.S. benchmark was still on track for a 2.6% weekly decline. The global benchmark, October Brent crude LCOV8, +0.62% rose 35 cents, or 0.5%, to $71.78 a barrel on the ICE Futures Europe exchange.
