Oil scores an end-of-week fillip from U.S.-Saudi tensions Oil futures rose Friday, with the global benchmark pushing back above $80 a barrel, lifted modestly by worries about potential U.S.-Saudi tensions but remained on track for a weekly stumble. The U.S. benchmark, November West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery CLX8, +0.92% on the New York Mercantile Exchange, rose 65 cents, or 0.9%, to $69.30 a barrel. It was on track for a weekly fall of 2.9%. The global benchmark, December Brent crude LCOZ8, +1.00% was up 87 cents, or 1.1%, to $80.16 a barrel, leaving it on track for a weekly fall of 0.3%. President Donald Trump on Thursday acknowledged for the first time that dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi is likely dead and saw there would be “very severe” consequences if it was determined that Saudi rulers were behind it.
