Oil aims to kick off start to week, month higher as Brent, WTI add to climb Oil futures on Monday extended a persistent uptrend with global crude prices adding to recent gains above a four-year high and U.S. oil around a three-month peak. November West Texas Intermediate crude CLX8, +0.22% the U.S. benchmark, climbed 24 cents, or 0.3%, to $73.49 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, the highest since mid July 10. December Brent crude LCOZ8, +0.28% which is now the front month after the November expiration, rose 59 cents, or 0.6%, lifting the global benchmark to $83.22 a barrel on the ICE Futures Europe exchange. Monday’s moves come after Brent crude posted a weekly gain of 5%, based on the front-month contract, while WTI oil saw a weekly climb of 3.5%, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
