U.S. oil benchmark posts first loss in 4 sessions as domestic supplies surprise to upside U.S. benchmark oil futures on Wednesday pulled back from their highest levels since October, with a hefty gain in weekly domestic crude stockpiles prompting the first loss in four sessions. Brent oil futures managed to finish a few cents higher as energy-market participants assessed the likelihood of producers quickly ramping up supply in response to tougher U.S. action against Iran’s oil market. U.S.-based West Texas Intermediate crude for June delivery CLM9, -0.74% fell 41 cents, or 0.6%, to settle at $65.89 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after settling Tuesday at its highest since Oct. 29, FactSet data show. June Brent crude LCOM9, +0.07% the global benchmark, tacked on 6 cents, or less than 0.1%, at $74.57 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe, logging another finish at its highest since late October.
