(Bloomberg) -- Oil veered between gains and losses as swelling stockpiles and record production of American crude insulated the world’s largest economy from geopolitical turmoil. Futures settled 0.2 percent higher in New York on Tuesday after falling as much as 1.1 percent earlier in the session. Diplomatic tensions that threatened to disrupt ties between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia simmered as traders braced for a government tally on Wednesday that is forecast to show a fourth straight week of rising oil inventories.
