Canadian Solar slips despite strong Q1 beat after weak Q2 revenue guidanceCanadian Solar (NASDAQ:CSIQ)-1.7% premarket despite reporting better than expectedQ1 earnings as revenues more than doubled from the year-ago quarter, but guidance for Q2 revenues of $690M-$730M is well below the $1.04B analyst consensus estimate.CSIQ expects Q2 solar module shipments of 1.5-1.6 GW, including ~100 MW of shipments to the company's utility-scale, solar power projects that may not be recognized as revenue in Q2.Q1 solar module shipments totaled 1.37 GW vs. 1.83 GW in Q4 2017 but beating company guidance of 1.3-1.35 GW.Q1 gross margin was 10.1% vs. 19.7% in Q4 2017 and 13.5% in the year-ago quarter; CSIQ had forecast gross margin of 10%-12%.CSIQ's FY 2018 guidance remains for 6.6-7.1 GW of module shipments and $4.4B-$4.6B in total revenues.See all stocks on the move »Now read:Why Sunrun Inc.
