Rhetoric 25 YO: Tasting The History Of American Whiskey A Bottle of Rhetoric 25 YO Rhetoric is an ultra-aged Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey that has been released in 6 successive yearly bottlings beginning in 2013. The last and final release of the now 25 YO Rhetoric was in December 2018. The original whiskey was distilled between 1990 and 1993. The mash bill consists of 86% corn, 6% rye and 8% malted barley, barreled at 62.5% ABV (125 proof). This was the mash bill used by the Bernheim distillery. During the 1980s, United Distillers (UD), then owned by Guinness, the predecessor of Diageo, acquired seven different American distilleries, including Stitzel-Weller, Bernheim and Glenmore. In 1992, UD shut down Stitzel-Weller and Glenmore, and consolidated distillation at the new Bernheim distillery. It’s likely that Rhetoric was originally distilled at Bernheim.
