Stocks move solidly higher, powered by tech and healthcare firms Stocks rose broadly Tuesday on Wall Street, erasing the market’s modest losses from the day before. Technology and healthcare companies powered the rally. Broadcom gained 2.1% and Biogen climbed 4.2%. Banks benefited from rising bond yields, which allow them to charge higher rates on loans. Wells Fargo gained 0.9%. Energy companies powered the Standard & Poor’s 500 index higher as the price of U.S. crude oil moved briefly above $60 a barrel. Oil hasn’t settled above that price since November. Home builders slumped on new data showing the pace of newly started residential construction projects fell sharply last month.
