Summary Introduction - discount retailing can be a great trade, at the very least It may be timely to come back to a theme I introduced in 2014, with The Case That Our Investment Dollars Will Be Treated Well In Dollar Tree Stock . That article on Dollar Tree ( DLTR ), an old favorite from the 1990s, was written after it announced a merger with Family Dollar, the old FDO which I had also made good money on in the '90s - but which later fell on hard times. At the time of the article (in June), DLTR was in the low $50s. It did subsequently move much higher, to above $116 this January. (But since 2014 was The Year of Biotech for me, I moved to a sexier stock than DLTR later in 2014.) Moving to recent times, I have written articles about buying dips in retailer stocks that were being affected by fears of the Amazon ( AMZN ) juggernaut.
