Videogame revenue will be all digital by 2022, says Piper Jaffray Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson predicted Monday that videogame industry revenue will be "~100%" digital by 2022, which he said would be a tailwind for publishers Electronic Arts Inc. EA, -1.28% Activision Blizzard Inc. ATVI, -1.53% and Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. TTWO, -1.39% Olson said that the publishers get about 70% to 75% of their revenue from digital sources currently. "In an all-digital videogame world, publisher margins would be dramatically higher," he wrote. "Specifically, our CY22 scenario analysis shows operating margins 10ppts higher than current levels for each publisher." Olson has overweight ratings on the three videogame publishers. EA shares are up 27% over the past 12 months, while Activision shares have gained 26% and Take-Two shares have risen 60%. The S&P 500 SPX, -0.78% has climbed 13% over the past year.
