E.L.F. Beauty is shifting its strategy … about six months too late, analysts say E.L.F. Beauty Inc. used its second-quarter earnings call to lay out a go-forward strategy to turn around decelerating sales, but the plan is about six months too late, analysts say. The beauty company’s ELF, -33.94% shares plummeted 34% in Thursday trading after it cut its fiscal 2018 sales out look to low-single-digits growth from 6% to 8% growth. The company also revised its adjusted earnings guidance to 56 cents to 61 cents per share from 59-to-61 cents per share. In the second quarter, sales were $59.1 million, in line with the FactSet consensus, and adjusted EPS was 13 cents per share, exceeding the FactSet guidance for 6 cents per share. The strategy includes investing in engagement and awareness of the brand, focusing on key items and ensuring that retailers have a better mix of new and existing items.
