Related news Lime, the popular electric bike and electric scooter company, has a new way for urban commuters to get around — cars. As carmakers General Motors ( GM ) and Ford Motor ( F ) get into scooters, the e-scooter startup Lime car sharing is launching a car-sharing service using Fiat Chrysler ( FCAU ) cars. Starting this week, Lime customers in Seattle will be able to rent a Lime-branded Fiat 500 using the Lime mobile app. The company will offer 50 cars, branded as the LimePod, initially with plans to expand the fleet to 1,500 by 2019, Bloomberg reported. Lime car sharing users can unlock the LimePod Fiats for $1 and pay 40 cents per minute of driving. That's similar to renting Lime e-bikes and e-scooters, which cost $1 to unlock and 15 cents per minute of use. Lime, roughly two years old, has raised $467 million to date at a staggering valuation north of $1 billion. The frenzy around e-scooters and e-bikes has seen automobile and ride-hailing giants make moves in the space. GM
