Happily running his physical therapy practice in Venice Beach, Calif., he was frustrated that he couldn’t find a good at-home surgical neck traction device. Having played football for a while in college, he’d suffered from neck pain himself and knew how difficult it was to find relief. One day, after hurting his neck while working out, he said, “Enough is enough.” He’d soon created his own makeshift prototype, using materials he had at hand, creating a small sling-like device that hooks up to a doorknob or railing.
