How Facebook Might Make Money From Its Highly-Anticipated Cryptocurrency Facebook's ( FB Facebook Is 's Stock of the Day : The social media giant is due to release a white paper laying out its plans for a "GlobalCoin, what the coin means for Facebook, Facebook shares were up 4.24% on Monday and also rose on Friday on reports that it had signed up a number of large companies as partners to help govern the planned crypto. In a note on Friday, RBC Capital ' Mark Mahaney identified several areas where Facebook's forthcoming crypto token -- which is expected to launch on a test basis in 2020 -- would be a natural fit. Those areas are peer-to-peer payments, commerce, applications and gaming, with the token delivering speedy transactions for users regardless of the status of the fiat currency where they're located.
