Summary Abitibi Royalty at Canadian Malartic is a compelling value. Canadian Malartic mine ownership was hotly contested. Osisko received $3 billion and retained a 5% royalty on a portion of Canadian Malartic. Abitibi stock has surged as their Canadian Malartic royalties are now highlighted and valued by the market price. Former owner Osisko Mining refused to relinquish Canada's largest gold mine without a royalty stake in future production. Behind the story of Abitibi Royalties (RZZ-TSX) is the key to their stock price rise over the past few years. The prolific Canadian Malartic mine was hotly pursued through a hostile bid of owner Osisko Mining-by Goldcorp in early 2014.
