Because of the Schengen Area, one is free to drive across Europe, although it has not the same price in its every corner. The motorways system that connects European states allows drivers to go from one country to another without having to stop at the border to enter a whole new jurisdiction. But this smooth crossed often implies a change of tolls and fares, and one country is especially pricey. In Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands it is completely free to travel on motorways, while in Austria there is a special year-round-pass which is less than $115 and in Slovenia the same ticket is around $125. In Switzerland the same annual pass is even cheaper, costing less than $35, and in Spain most of the highways are free. In Italy, on the other hand, it is a lot more expensive to travel on toll roads. Traveling for 400 kilometers costs around $40 and for the same amount that would buy a one-year pass in many other European countries, in Italy it is only possible to go from Milan to
