ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (NYSE American:HEB), focused on pharmaceutical research, announces that William Mitchell, MD, PhD, Professor of Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology at Vanderbilt University, will review data on January 30, 2018 at the Keystone Symposia Conference on Emerging Technologies in Vaccine Discovery and Development evidencing the activity of Ampligen® (rintatolimod) in enabling nasally-administered seasonal flu vaccines to confer wide cross-reactivity/protection against influenza viruses, even against those they were not designed to protect. The immune-stimulant properties of Ampligen® as a restricted TLR3 agonist in nasal mucosa were observed in animal models and human subjects. Dr. Mitchell also serves as the independent Chairman of the Board of Hemispherx.
