Related news Akero Therapeutics ( AKRO ) charged up Wednesday after the biotech company unveiled promising results for a hepatitis treatment. Researchers tested three doses of the drug in patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, or NASH. NASH is a progressive form of fatty liver disease unrelated to alcohol consumption. The experimental hepatitis treatment, dubbed efruxifermin, showed promise at all three dose levels. The results come just two days after the Food and Drug Administration rejected Intercept Pharmaceuticals ' ( ICPT ) potential NASH drug, obeticholic acid. Analysts largely saw Intercept as being the first to cross the finish line in this form of hepatitis treatment. While Intercept stock tumbled nearly 40% on Monday, Akero stock surged 29.8% Wednesday, near 32.30 in afternoon trading on today's stock market .
