Stocks waver as investors pore through earnings, weigh conflicting economic data U.S. stocks traded mixed Thursday as investors continued to examine the flow of corporate earnings and a series of conflicting economic reports. The market took the public release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on his investigation into Russian election interference in stride with equities showing little reaction. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.24% rose 60 points, or 0.2%, to 26,511, while the S&P 500 index SPX, -0.01% lost 1 point to 2,900. The Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, -0.20% meanwhile, fell 21 points, or 0.3%, to 7,975. Stocks whipsawed between gains and losses as traders were deluged with a series of new earnings reports and data that sent inconsistent messages about the health of the U.S. and global economies.
