When we visited our furry friend in Part 1 of this series, he was poring over the Wall Street Journal, looking for winners. He found four market vehicles which had beaten the S&P 500 in last week's article . They had an average yield of ~3.9%. The S&P was down -8.29% from the September market highs at that point. Flash forward one week, and still no relief in sight, with the S&P down -9.77%. (Private Collection - ridiculous but true) We wondered if there were any higher yielding vehicles which could boast the same market-beating status since the September highs, and thereby qualify for joining the ranks of our Bear Market Busters. As luck would have it, we found two new winners, with yields ranging from 5.9% to 6.6%, Jernigan Capital ( JCAP ) and Medical Properties Trust ( MPW ). They're both REIT's, but in totally different sub-industries - JCAP is in the self-storage business, and MPW is in the healthcare facilities industry: Profiles:
