They've been unable to gain traction in this market environment and this week sold off to an even lower price than in the entire previous 52-week period. J.C. Penny is probably the best known old name on the list and if your reaction is Oh, are they still in business? then you understand. Trading between $4 and $2 per share for most of the this year, the stock finally seemed to give up this week and now trades just on the verge of penny stock territory at 1.66. Analysts who follow retail can tell you about the deep, long-lasting effects of Amazon on this sector. Could J.C. Penny have adapted to the new world of retail more effectively years ago?
