E-learning firm Preply's offices in Kyiv. The firm is just one of a number of successful fintech start-ups originating in Ukraine Preply Pan-European online language learning platform Preply has announced plans to open a new office in Barcelona in early 2019. The Ukrainian firm, which has over 100,000 users, is unique in that it deploys machine learning to recommend tutors to prospective students. Its expansion is the result of a successful $4 million funding round in July with further growth planned into the German, British, American and Latin American markets. “Barcelona and the Catalan region are the most important spots in Europe in terms of innovation, network, talents, services and incentives for the start-up ecosystem,” said the CEO and Co-Founder of Preply, Kirill Bigai. “This new Preply office will represent an important hub for the company, where the global marketing and growth strategy will be developed.
