Kimball International CEO Bob Schneider to retire, step down as chairman Kimball International Inc. KBAL, -0.12% said Tuesday that Chief Executive Bob Schneider will retire, effective Oct. 31, after four years in the role, and 31 years at the company. At that time, Schneider also plans to step down as chairman of the board, but will remain a board member for a period of time not to exceed the remainder of his term, which ends in 2020. The board has established a committee to search for a new CEO. Shares of the home furnishings company, which were still inactive in premarket trading, have lost 7.7% over the past 12 months, while the S&P 500 SPX, -0.24% has gained 11.4%.
