McDonald's Joins In The Effort To Nudge Consumers Away From Unhealthy Soft Drinks Delicious though it may be, it is no secret that the regular consumption of Coke and other sugared soft drinks presents serious health risks. Because of this, many governments have opted to take measures to reduce soda consumption. In the United Kingdom, for instance, a tax was passed in 2016 on all soft drinks that contained five or more grams of sugar per 100 mL. This prompted The Coca-Cola Company to reduce the sugar content in many of their popular offerings, such as Fanta. But beyond taxes (which many critics contend is a heavy-handed and regressive policy), are there other ways to promote healthful behavior?
