Kohl's earnings and sales beat, guidance raised Kohl's Corp. KSS, +3.15% reported second-quarter net income of $292 million, or $1.76 per share, up from $208 million, or $1.24 per share. Revenue totaled $4.57 billion, up from $4.40 billion last year. Same-store sales for the 13 weeks ending August 4 increased 3.1% while fiscal comparable sales were up 4.3%. The FactSet consensus was for EPS of $1.64, revenue of $4.27 billion, and same-store sales growth of 2.6%. Kohl's now expects fiscal 2018 EPS of $4.96 to $5.36, up from previous guidance of $4.86 to $5.31. Adjusted EPS is expected to be $5.15 to $5.55, up from $5.05 to $5.50 previously. Kohl's shares slipped 2.7% in Tuesday premarket trading, but are up more than 111% for the past year. The S&P 500 index SPX, +0.24% has gained 17.7% for the last 12 months.
