McDermott's stock turns lower as surprise large loss, revenue miss offset upbeat outlook Shares of McDermott International Inc. MDR, -7.64% dropped 4.4% in premarket trade Monday, after the provider of engineering and construction services to the energy industry reported a large surprise fourth-quarter loss and revenue that missed expectations, but provided an upbeat full-year outlook. Earlier, the stock was up as much as 2.3% after the results. The company swung to a net loss of $2.78 billion, or $15.33 a share, from a profit of $26 million, or 27 cents a share, in the same period a year ago. Excluding non-recurring items, such as a $2.2 billion goodwill impairment charge, the adjusted loss per share was $1.55, while the FactSet consensus was for earnings of 17 cents a share. Revenue rose to $2.07 billion from $718 million, but was below the FactSet consensus of $2.64 billion.
