As our earnings continue to grow and we continue to be disciplined in our approach to capital investment, we will be targeting positive free cash flow generation after both capital investments and distributions in 2021. This inflection is expected to allow both the funding of our distribution and capital program entirely from internal generated cash flow and provide us improved capital allocation flexibility for unit buybacks or debt reduction. Turning to Slide 4, we can discuss this plan in a little more detail. In 2019, our operating cash flow of over $4 billion supports the return of capital of approximately $3 billion to our unitholders. As a result, we funded our growth capital program with retained cash and debt. For several years, we have been committed to funding our growth project portfolio from a combination of debt and operating cash flow.
