The London-listed defense and security engineering company said the transaction will be funded though a combination of cash and the proceeds of a new 350 million British-pound ($425.6 million) debt facility, adding that the acquisition of the Virginia-based company was part of its five-year ambition to expand its presence in the U.S. The company said the provider of mission-focused cyber, data analytics and software development solutions will be bought by its subsidiary QinetiQ Inc. The company said Avantus counts the U.S. Defense Department, the intelligence community, the Department of Homeland Security and other federal civilian agencies as customers. It added that the acquisition will generate a tax benefit of around $70 million for the company, and that it expects to close the transaction by the end of 2022 conditional upon regulatory approvals in the U.S. and other customary closing conditions.
