Summary Gilead recently announced the appointment of the new CEO, the current CEO of Roche Pharmaceuticals. There are multiple delays associated with the transition to and from the Gilead leadership roles. The burden of the leadership transitions is carried by the shareholders. We think the new CEO will require a significant time to turn the Gilead ship around. We have a Hold stock rating for Gilead. Thesis Gilead ( GILD ) announced on 12/10/18 that it appointed the new Chairman and CEO effective 3/1/2019. The new leader, Daniel O’Day, is currently the CEO of Roche Pharmaceuticals ( OTCQX:RHHBY ). While we consider Daniel O'Day to be well qualified for the job, we still think the GILD stock has a long way to recovery no matter who is taking the helm. Magic turnarounds don't happen overnight.
