RXi Pharma's RXI-231 shows positive effect in consumer testing program; shares ahead 13% premarketNano cap RXi Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:RXII) is up13% premarket on modestly higher volume in response to itsannouncement of positive results from a consumer testing program assessing the ability of RXI-231 to reduce skin pigmentation caused by exposure to UV light.The consumer testing program consisted of three studies, two in volunteers to evaluate the safety of the topical gel (skin irritation/sensitivity). The third evaluated its impact on the increase in skin melanin content (pigmentation) induced by UV exposure. Results showed RXI-231 can reduce the change in skin tone triggered by UV.RXI-231 targets an enzyme called TYR that plays a key role in the synthesis of melanin.See all stocks on the move »
