DSW ( DSW ) has been among the least interesting footwear retailers in the past several years. Comps at the company have fluctuated between negative 3% and positive 1%, and the company has made mostly mediocre acquisitions. A new DSW appears to be upon us with comps up 6.3% YTD and two acquisitions that look relatively interesting. However, DSW has not established a track record of execution, and I think the decision to bet on a turnaround at Camuto could be a bit risky. Still, with comps up and cash flow strong, shares look somewhat cheap at less than 10x free cash flow. On a DCF-basis, I believe the stock is worth $30-34. Let’s take a look at recent performance in the core, DSW’s capital allocation history, and why I think shares are slightly underpriced.
