YouTube Music Sings Its Way To India Shortly after Spot ify decided to open shop in India in late-February, the music streaming app, with its extremely low subscription fees , has managed to attract around 1 million users. On March 12, 2019, Google has announced that they will be launching their music streaming service, YouTube Music for users in India. With China and its various governmental restrictions, India seems like a great choice for these music streaming services looking to expand their audience beyond USA and Europe. Announcing the launch, Lyor Cohen, Global Head of Music, YouTube emphasized, “India is where the multi-lingual music scene thrives.” In India, apart from Spotify, YouTube Music will be competing against international names like Apple and homegrown streaming services like JioSaavn, Gaana, and Wynk.
