The firms, Boies Schiller Flexner, Morgan & Morgan and Susman Godfrey, have estimated the value of the settlement as up to $7.8 billion. Google is not paying damages as part of the accord, but it may be sued by individual users. Google has denied wrongdoing but agreed to destroy billions of data records in the settlement, which would resolve claims that it secretly tracked the internet use of people who thought they were browsing privately. The agreement and attorney fee award are subject to approval by a federal judge in Oakland, California. The plaintiffs lawyers' Tuesday filings offer an updated glimpse at the billing rates of prominent attorneys including Boies Schiller founder David Boies, showing Boies' rate has increased to $2,330 from the $2,110 rate he in an unrelated case in September. Bill Carmody, a partner at Susman Godfrey whose past clients have included WeWork founder Adam Neumann, is now billing at $2,500 an hour, according to the filings. Carmody said in an
