U.S. consumer card delinquency rate of 1.4% fell from 1.5% in February, but rose from 1.1% a year before. Its net write-off rate, too, slipped 10 basis points from a month ago to 2.3% and advanced from 1.7% in March 2023. Both rates trailed their prepandemic marks of 1.5% and 2.5%, respectively. Total U.S. consumer card member loans were $81.3B, up from $80.8B in the prior month and down from $82.1B in January. American Express's ( AXP ) U.S. small business card delinquency rate stalled at 1.5% at March 31, while the net write-off rate of 2.4% increased from 2.3% at Feb. 29. Small business card member loans of $109.9B rose from $107.0B in the previous month and from $107.3B in January.
